THE GODFATHER OF SOUL, MR. JAMES BROWN
This first of it's kind exhibition features rare memorable and personal artifacts which vividly tell the story of Brown’s rise to worldwide fame.

Highlights include:
- An array of costumes and personal artifacts worn by Brown from the 1960s and on;
- A ‘King of Soul’ crown worn by Brown in the 1950s;
- Family photos with candid images of Brown and his children, on tour, at home,and during philanthropic activities;
- Programs from the three James Brown Memorial Services held in New York, Augusta, and South Carolina;
- Audio-visual stations featuring concert performance footage, highlighted tracks and studio recordings;
- Excerpts of interviews with individuals who owe influence to Brown.
Interactive kiosks highlight the often imitated, but never duplicated, sound of Brown’s horn-driven funk music and enable exhibit visitors to experience his musical evolution as a singer, composer, and performer. His remarkable legacy is told through oral histories of musicians, politicians, and entertainers. Excerpts of interviews with Dan Aykroyd, Anthony Keidis, Smokey Robinson, and more contribute personal stories and insights into Brown as a performer, philanthropist, and musician. |
From Ty to Cal: A Century of Baseball in Augusta
From Ty to Cal traces the history of professional baseball in Augusta over the past century, during which the city of Augusta has hosted over a dozen baseball teams, many of which have brought championship titles to The Garden City. The exhibition highlights the teams that gave rise to various stars of the major leagues with Augusta connections, and features such prominent personalities as the legendary Ty Cobb, revered as one of the greatest hitters of all time and bearer of the all-time greatest hitting record, to Lou Brissie, Phil Cockrell, Dooley Womack, Billy Johnson, and most recently, Dustin Pedroia, a former Augusta GreenJackets player, current Second baseman for the Boston Red Sox, and 2007 American League Rookie of the Year. Through images and artifacts, the exhibit illustrates baseball’s important role in the history of sports in the city.

Remembering the Augusta National
From Bobby Jones to Arnold Palmer to Bing Crosby,
a special exhibition highlighting the personalities
associated with the Augusta National Golf Club and
the man behind-the-scenes, Phil Wahl, Sr., who
created an atmosphere of professionalism and
class. Mr. Wahl was hired by Cliff Roberts in 1962
and managed The Augusta National and the annual
Masters Tournament until his untimely death in 1978.
